Buying a car

In Canada, people often tell me that it is very inconvenient to live without a car. The automobile insurance is very expensive, especially for newcomers in Ontario. Nevertheless, you have to buy a new car or a used one in Toronto.

I didn't realize the necessity of a car when I arrived in Canada in August. Summer in Toronto is very beautiful and is not as hot as in China. My family felt more comfortable here. In the daytime I took my son to play in the park or went shopping by bus. When we finished our dinner, we went for a stroll on the trail.

As the winter is coming, I am increasingly aware of the necessity of buying a car. Last Saturday, I waited for the 102 bus for about 30 minutes at the station. This kind of thing happened to me and my husband sometimes. I thought if I go to the college to study in January I have to buy a car in case I have to wait for the bus in the cold winter for a long time.

After making some research on the internet, we  made a decision to buy a used car. The most important reason for not buying a new car is lack of money. We now both are unemployed and have no income. The money we took from China is not enough to pay for a new car and the monthly insurance. So the used car is our best choice.

The next step is to decide how much we can pay for a used car. In consideration of the application of OSAP and our actual situation, we couldn’t afford that kind of used cars which cost us above $5,000. I was told that I should pay more attention to the vehicle condition when I buy a used car. I also found some information about how to check out the vehicle condition.

My husband is more interested in European and American-style cars. Mostly he will drive the car. In consideration of all these factors, we have no many choices. We found out there is a used cars dealer near our home. We will go there to buy our car in a few days.

Of course, if we can’t find a car we are satisfied with we will not buy one. At the same time, I am looking forward to knowing how cold the Toronto’s winter is. My son is always telling me that he want to build a snowman in winter. I hope he will love the winter of this city.
